U4GM MLB 26 Tips: Cheapest 96 Ketel Marte Strategy

The Old School Event adds Gleyber Torres and another Deluxe pack once you hit 10,000 XP. Diamond Quest is short, so knock it out early.

That 96 overall Ketel Marte is the sort of Diamond Dynasty card people circle early. Switch-hitter, steady at second, useful in ranked, and not just a bench bat you forget about after two games. The trick is not to panic-buy the whole Vintage Series. If you're careful with MLB 26 Stubs, you can build most of the collection through normal play, then use the market only where it actually makes sense.

Quick route before you start grinding

  • Open the Vintage Program first and check every stat mission.
  • Play the Old School Event long enough to reach the early XP reward.
  • Clear Diamond Quest for two fast collection pieces.
  • Work through Vintage Conquest while stacking hits, total bases, and strikeouts.
  • Use Vintage cards in Mini Seasons so the card-specific goals count at the same time.

You don't need to treat these as separate grinds. That's where a lot of players waste time. Put the Vintage cards you already own into your squad, even if they're not your favourites, and let several missions move at once. The Vintage Program gives five players, a Deluxe Vintage Pack, and the 94 Matt Carpenter. The Old School Event adds Gleyber Torres and another Deluxe pack once you hit 10,000 XP. Diamond Quest is short, so knock it out early.

Where the free cards really come from

Mini Seasons is the slowest part, but it's also the part that quietly saves you stubs. You'll need relief pitcher strikeouts for Matt Strahm, then saves with Strahm to move toward Raul Ibanez. After that, Ibanez has his own on-base work. The 22,000 Player XP goal also matters, and the extra 10,000 Vintage PXP mission is worth doing if you're already deep into the mode.

Use the market without getting dragged into it

Once the free grind is handled, you should be sitting close to 18 Vintage cards. The collection needs 27, so nine more cards usually have to come from the marketplace. Don't chase the flashiest names. Jeter, Utley, and other expensive cards look tempting, but they're not needed for Marte. Filter by Vintage Series, sort by price, and buy the cheapest usable options, often around 4,000 to 5,000 stubs each.

Smart order for a cheaper Marte chase

The cleaner play is to buy a handful of cheap Vintage cards before the long offline work begins. It feels backwards, but it helps. Those cards can go straight into Mini Seasons and Conquest, meaning your missions start moving right away. If you later pull one of the same cards from a reward pack, sell the duplicate and recover part of the cost. Players who want a quicker balance boost may look at MLB The Show Stubs for sale while still keeping the same budget-first plan, because the real win is avoiding pointless premium purchases.
