Liberty Falls is the latest addition to the Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The map offers a rich, atmospheric environment that feels like a twisted version of an American town—think idyllic suburbs fused with horror. There’s a sense of eerie calmness about the place, but players know that danger lurks in every corner. Zombies are constantly pressing in on the survivors, and the vault remains one of the few untouched mysteries of the map.
The Vault itself sits at the heart of the town, hidden away and surrounded by locked doors, puzzles, and traps. The loot it holds is crucial to your survival, including powerful weapons, perks, and even narrative clues that will tie the story together. But accessing it is no easy feat. In fact, it requires unlocking a series of steps, much like other complex Easter eggs in Zombies history. Let’s break down what you need to do to open the vault and claim your prize.
Step 1: Locate the Vault Key
The first task to unlocking the Liberty Falls vault is finding the Vault Key. This item is not dropped randomly—it’s hidden within the environment, and finding it requires some careful searching.
The Vault Key is located in the northern section of Liberty Falls, but it’s not out in the open. You’ll need to defeat several waves of Zombies first, as they tend to block your path. Once you've dealt with the horde, look for a large building near the train station. Inside, you’ll find a locked box under the staircase. Use your weapon to break open the box, which will release the Vault Key. Be ready, however, as opening the box will trigger a small zombie horde to spawn in the vicinity, so stay on guard.
Step 2: Unlocking the Vault Door
Once you’ve secured the Vault Key, head to the Vault’s location in the center of the map. The Vault is a large, steel-reinforced door, surrounded by debris and faded advertisements. At this point, the Vault will still be sealed, even with the Vault Key in hand.
To unlock the door, you must solve a puzzle hidden in plain sight. On the wall beside the vault, you’ll notice a sequence of numbers and symbols glowing faintly. These symbols correspond to a set of six objects scattered around the map. You’ll need to interact with these objects in the right order to activate the Vault door mechanism.
Step 3: Interact with the Hidden Objects
The six hidden objects are linked to different locations around Liberty Falls. Here’s a quick guide on where to find them:
The Liberty Falls Fountain – This is in the town square, and the symbol you'll need to activate here is a water droplet. Stand near the fountain and interact with the base.
The Overturned Truck – Near the southern exit of the map, you’ll spot a truck blocking a small alley. This symbol is a gear. Search the truck's engine compartment to find it.
The Abandoned Grocery Store – Head to the east side of the map, where you’ll find an old grocery store. The symbol here is a bread loaf. Search inside the store to locate it.
The Old Theater – Near the northern part of Liberty Falls, this old movie theater holds a chair symbol. Look under the theater’s marquee to find it.
The Broken Bridge – A bridge on the western side of the map is where you’ll find a hammer symbol. Check the broken pillars beneath the bridge.
The Cemetery – Finally, head to the graveyard located at the farthest point to the northeast. The symbol here is a cross, and you’ll need to interact with the grave of Liberty Falls’ founder.
Once you’ve activated all six objects, return to the Vault and interact with the door. It will open, revealing the riches inside!
Step 4: Survive the Vault’s Defenses
Opening the vault won’t be the end of your trials, however. As soon as the door creaks open, a massive horde of Zombies will flood the area. Worse still, there are also traps within the vault itself—laser grids and even fire-spitting devices designed to make your life miserable.
If you’re playing solo, this is a true test of your skill and preparation. It’s a good idea to bring a strong weapon like the Ray Gun or the upgraded Wonder Weapon to take out the Zombies quickly. If you’re playing with friends, coordinate your efforts to ensure that you’re not overwhelmed by the incoming horde.
While you’re fending off Zombies, be sure to grab the loot hidden inside the vault. You’ll find a variety of powerful weapons, including some new guns exclusive to Liberty Falls, as well as essential perks like Juggernog and Speed Cola.
Step 5: The Vault’s Secret Reward
Once you’ve survived the onslaught and looted the vault, you’ll unlock the secret narrative elements of Liberty Falls. The vault contains documents and audio logs that reveal more about the story behind the Zombies outbreak in Liberty Falls, as well as some clues about the overarching plot of Black Ops 6.
